Do you want to be a world changemaker and improve your personal and work-life through meditation? Well, I had the chance to sit down with thought leader, creative thinker, and innovator, Vishen Lakhiani, and during our fifty-minute discussion, I got to dissect his pain, the price he paid, and his prize.
His story is proof enough that meditation can actually transform your life. Here’s a sneak peek of the wisdom he shared with us:
“When you truly tap into your mind, you turn every problem into the project, and you can use your mind to resolve that problem.” – Vishen Lakhiani
Before becoming the two-times New York bestselling author he is today, Vishen was yet another struggling guy working at a life-sucking job and struggling to close sales through cold calling. But that’s before he got actively into meditation.
According to this, Buddha and the Badass author, once he got back to his meditation, he started seeing the world in a new light. His sales skyrocketed, he got promotions at work, and ultimately got the drive to start Mind Valley.
“There are aspects of reality that are so susceptible to our control, but we never learn Meditation” – Vishen Lakhiani
Vishen believes that the meditation class he took allowed him to tap into his intuition, and that defined how he made sales decisions. He believes that meditation can guide you into making the right decisions for your career and also personal life.
Earlier on in his life, he used self-visualization to get rid of skin acne in just five weeks! That’s how powerful meditation is. He says that you only need to learn the right meditation techniques and stay consistent in it.
“When you start tapping into your intuition, it never shuts up.” – Vishen Lakhiani
Vishen says that once you’re in touch with your inner self, your intuition will push you to strive for bigger things in your life. He says that you have to be willing to leave that ‘safe’ job or place you’re in and pursue your passion.
He further quotes Nelson Mandela and says, “If you want to change the world, change education.” This is what he used to start his multi-million-dollar business, Mind Valley, today.
“It’s not just about self-love, it’s about loving everyone, forgiving the other person and understanding that they are nothing more than a means to train you” – Vishen Lakhiani
Once you start working on your passion, there are people who won’t believe in you. There are people who will criticize and mock you. And Vishen says that you have to work on overcoming any type of tendencies you may have to be praised and any sensitivity you have to criticism.
He says that the more you step out, ‘the more people will throw the rotten apple at you.’ However, Vishen believes that you have to forgive all the people who criticize you along your journey.
You should learn to take criticism without letting it get to you. You should use these people to push you forward towards your goals.
“The more the obstacles on the way, the more exciting the project” – Vishen Lakhiani
Throughout the discussion, the one thing that really stood out is Vishen’s emphasis on forgiveness. He says you have to treat all your problems as projects. That family member that doesn’t believe in you, anyone who criticizes you, don’t hate any of these people, treat them like a project.
In the discussion, Lakhiani also shared his Six phase meditation technique; he provided us on how to stay true to yourself and even revealed to us his learning methods.
There’s so much wisdom I couldn’t cover in this short blog, but that doesn’t mean you should miss it.
